Camp layout

Afterward

The dome itself is 32 feet in diameter, built from a metal frame geodesic dome and a cloth cover.

Frame

The dome frame is a "4V" geodesic dome, built from 250 struts of ¾" electrical metal conduit. Estimated weight for the frame is 650 lbs.

Two of the faces of the dome have been enlarged to make doors, so people won't need to crawl into the dome.

The struts will be painted off-white (eggshell?) to hide the bare metal and to better mesh with the color of the canvas shell.

Shell

The covering has not yet been determined, but ideally it will be real fabric, treated to protect against the sun and the dust. The floor will be plastic tarp, possibly with rugs. The cover will be as close a fit as practical to reduce the loss of moisture from the dome.

Time permitting, windows will be cut into the shell (clear vinyl) which can be covered if desired.

There will be cloth doors for the entrances. There will also be ways to vent the dome for cooling purposes when appropriate.
