The Oasis Dome is a small oasis of moisture and living things in the middle of the desert. The Oasis dome gets its inspiration from several sources: The rainforest pyramid at Moody Gardens which I visited in 2003, the massage tent at Asilomar, some advertising photos at the Pacific Domes web site, and the two tropical plants that were in our camp in 2004 (the only green things for 30 miles as far as I could tell).

Overview

The Oasis Dome is a geodesic dome, 32 feet in diameter, sealed to retain humidity. It contains a circular fountain in the center, misters in the ceiling, a number of tropical plants, and possibly some massage tables.

The dome struts are painted an off-white color and the canvas covering is also off-white. The goal is to provide a mellow and relaxing atmosphere. At night, the dome is dimly lit with pastel colors -- possibly EL-wire.

The entire intent is to project a relaxing "new-age-y" feel to the space.
